Middletown Maryland - The Small Town with BIG Civil War History!
July 2014 marks the 150th Anniversary of the Ransoming of Middletown. A full slate of events are planned for the week of July 7-12.
Over three years of Civil War Middletown's citizens were tired and soldiers had taken food, livestock, supplies and fences. When Confederate General Jubal Early demanded a ransom be paid or else the Town would be burned, the community came together and raised the money and saved Middletown!
Just as the community came together in 1864 to save the Town, Middletown Valley Bank and The Town of Middletown are Sponsoring Partners for this collaborative community event. Consider becoming a sponsor too with many giving levels to choose from.
